Representing stakeholders in standardization
The NSSF is supported by the British Standards Institution (BSI), the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). These organizations represent major stakeholders in standardization in the UK.
BSI British Standards, a division of the BSI Group, is the National Standards Body of the UK. It works with government, businesses and consumers to represent UK interests and facilitate the production of standards. BSI British Standards brings to the NSSF its expertise in developing standards and standardization solutions, as well as providing the staff and facilities to run NSSF projects and deliver their outputs. |
The CBI is the UK's leading business organization and, in relation to the delivery of the NSSF, ensures that the interests of businesses of all sizes and in all sectors are represented. |
The Department of Trade and Industry is the government department that promotes enterprise and drives UK productivity and competitiveness. It funds the NSSF, which was set up as part of the government's commitment to increasing innovation, developing existing and emerging technology, and improving the UK's competitiveness in global markets. |
UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess - against internationally agreed standards - organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of these evaluators. |
